Get an Element's Position Using JavaScript

I would like to place this really educational article for javascript and HTML scripting sample. I am posting excerpts of the article just in case the webpage shutdown in the future and who knows.. Disclaimer: ALL CREDITS goes to the author and this topic interest me although I am NOT a super geek like a Developer, I somehow wanted to learn even a little bit of what is behind a webpage. My write-up ends here.

Sample Code

The code for getting X and Y position of an HTML element is provided below:

function getPosition(element) {
    var xPosition = 0;
    var yPosition = 0;

    while(element) {
        xPosition += (element.offsetLeft - element.scrollLeft + element.clientLeft);
        yPosition += (element.offsetTop - element.scrollTop + element.clientTop);
        element = element.offsetParent;
    }
    return { x: xPosition, y: yPosition };
}
The getPosition function takes a reference to an HTML element in your document as its argument. It returns an object containing an x property and a y property.
Here is an example usage of this function:
var myElement = document.querySelector("selector path to element");
var position = getPosition(myElement);
alert("The image is located at: " + position.x + ", " + position.y);
You can usegetElementByIdgetElementsByTagNamegetElementsByClassName, or any other function that returns a reference to an HTML element that lives in your DOM.

Layout/Position in HTML

For the most part, an element's position is partly determined by its own CSS properties, but it is largelydetermined by its parent's CSS properties. The properties that I am referring to are primarily the padding,margin, and border.

A great visualization of how those properties affect layout is by looking at the box-layout view for the element named container from our example:
look at the element's box
The relevant CSS looks like:
#container {
 padding: 24px;
 margin: 24px;
 border: 50px #ccc solid;
 left: 10px;
 top: 200px;
 position: absolute;
}
Notice how the values for paddingmargin, and border are represented in the diagram. At the far-left and top, you can see the left and top CSS properties represented because this element is absolutely positioned.

Here is our code again:

function getPosition(element) {
    var xPosition = 0;
    var yPosition = 0;

    while(element) {
        xPosition += (element.offsetLeft - element.scrollLeft + element.clientLeft);
        yPosition += (element.offsetTop - element.scrollTop + element.clientTop);
        element = element.offsetParent;
    }
    return { x: xPosition, y: yPosition };
}
Let's start at the very top:
function getPosition(element)
Our function is called getPosition, and it takes an argument called element. As you saw from the example usage, the element in question is a reference to an HTML element that lives in your DOM. Preferably, it is the HTML element whose position you are curious about as well.

Next up, we declare two variables called xPosition and yPosition whose values are initialized to 0:
var xPosition = 0;
var yPosition = 0;
These two variables will be used to keep a count of our element's current x and y position as we go through each of the element's parents. That will become more clear when we look at the next block of code:
while(element) {
    xPosition += (element.offsetLeft - element.scrollLeft + element.clientLeft);
    yPosition += (element.offsetTop - element.scrollTop + element.clientTop);
    element = element.offsetParent;
}
This is where the magic happens. We have a while loop that starts with the element we passed in, measures the current element's position/layout properties, keeps a running tally of the current position/layout-related values by updating the xPosition and yPosition variables, and makes its way up to the root of your document via the offsetParent property. The loop ends when there are no more parents for us to run into.
Let's dive into this a little bit further. Earlier, I mentioned that the layout/position of an element is affected by the padding, margin, and border properties. If the element is positioned absolutely or relatively, that will stir things up a bit further with some top/left properties coming into the mix.
If you look at our code, there is no mention of padding, margin, border, top, or left. The three properties we measure instead are the offset*scroll*, and client* properties. That may seem a bit bizarre, but what we are looking for is indeed contained in these three properties. It just requires some digging and research.

The Offset Properties

The offsetLeft and offsetTop properties return the left and top positions relative to their nearestoffsetParent. That probably makes no sense. What I am trying to say is that these properties measure the distance from the current element's top-left corner to its nearest offset parent.
For example, here is the offsetTop and offsetLeft value for our image element:
offset top

The value is 24 because the parent (aka the container) pushes the image away by 24 pixels. The pushing away could be determined by many factors. In this case, the factor is the parent container's padding value. The offsetTop and offsetLeft values put a numerical value to how much a parent has pushed you away:
xPosition += (element.offsetLeft - element.scrollLeft + element.clientLeft);
yPosition += (element.offsetTop - element.scrollTop + element.clientTop);
Each parent element has a similar offset value, so our loop just sums all of them up until there is no parent left. The end result is a sum of all the offset positions to help give you an accurate position that takes into account margins, paddings, and top/left values. There is one thing missing though...

The Border

The one value the offset properties don't take into account is an element's border. The reason is that the border is considered a part of an inner element's top-left corner, but its size does have an effect on the position of something. To measure the border size, we use the clientLeft and clientTop properties:
xPosition += (element.offsetLeft - element.scrollLeft + element.clientLeft);
yPosition += (element.offsetTop - element.scrollTop + element.clientTop);
Right now, with our offset* and client* properties, we have accounted for paddings, margins, borders, and top/left properties. In 99% of all cases, this should be all you need to take into account...unless your case is part of that remaining 1%.

Scrolling

The element you are looking for may be inside a container that scrolls. If your container is scrolling, then the position of your element needs to take that scroll into account. To make sure that is taken care of, we measure the scrollLeft and scrollTop properties:
xPosition += (element.offsetLeft - element.scrollLeft + element.clientLeft);
yPosition += (element.offsetTop - element.scrollTop + element.clientTop);
Notice that the values of the scroll* properties is subtracted as opposed to being added like the offset* and client* properties.

The last thing we will look at is...well, the last line:
return { x: xPositiony: yPosition };
After our loop has completed, all that is left is return the xPosition and yPosition variables to the code that called our getPosition function in the first place. I return them in the form of a new object that contains an x and y property store the values found in the xPosition and yPosition variables respectively.

Papa! Happy Father's Day

It has been 26 years that I think, see, and hear about father's day without you Papa!! Wherever you are, I know you can watch us from heaven and Jesus knows our hearts. We thank you for bringing us in this world. I have seen your ways, your care as our father for a while, how you showed love to us little ones before. We are grown-ups now, we have our own kid too and we are in the process of being someone like you or better. Although we grew up without a father, we became like this because of mother's perseverance and her love for us, so we can have a good future and don't worry we are asking Jesus to help us take care of mama very much. She told us a lot of Bible stories during bedtime and she never fail to remind us to be kind to others, never hold grudges on anyone, be gentle and the most important one is we saw her never cease praying to Jesus. So we followed the same thing and trying our best to be a good child of GOD. We may have lapses but we're still trying our very best to get there! We are pursuing peace within our heart, humility, kindness, respect, thoughtfulness and especially LOVE to other people.

Every year and on.. HAPPY FATHER'S DAY PAPA!! We love you so much! :)

(i still remember every detail about you and what happened to you when I was x years old)

My father can't see these right now but she's got talent and she was chosen to join in their school newspaper. For now, she will be a cartoon graphic artist and hopefully later she will become a feature writer too. :) Thank you Jesus for her many talents.. hmm.. (I am so happy for her^^)

Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm 3

2014 FIFA WORLD CUP! Yay!! I don't have a way to watch them on live streaming but maybe can check them out somewhere I believe. Online streaming? Where? how?

http://espn.go.com/watchespn/

The plot takes place after Storm 2 and it begins with the leaders of all villages, the Kages, gathering to discuss the recent terrorist attacks by criminal organization Akatsuki and the involvement of former Konohagakure ninja Sasuke Uchiha on the latest one. Sasuke's group go to attack the Kages as they seek to capture Danzo Shimura, Konohagakure's current Hokage who is responsible for the Uchiha massacre years ago. As Sasuke is weakned in combat against all Kages, Akatsuki leader Madara Uchiha rescues him and request the Kages to hand him over Killer Bee and Naruto Uzumaki as they are the last hosts they need to fullfil their ambitions. The Kages refuse and Madara announces a new shinobi world war as he leaves.

Shortly afterwards, Madara brings Sasuke to Danzo which results in a duel where the Uchiha is victorious. He is then confronted by his former teammates, Naruto Uzumaki, Kakashi Hatake and Sakura Haruno who seek him to stop his fights, but Sasuke claims his desire to destroy Konoha. Naruto then proposes Sasuke one last final fight to see if he can make it return to the village or the two would die. As the two separate, the new formed Shinobi Alliance has Naruto and Killer Bee be sent to an island to keep them away from Akatsuki. In the island, Naruto confronts his inner darkness allowing him to control the power of the Nine-tailed Demon Fox sealed inside him. He does it before learning from his mother's spirit that the Fox was released sixteen years ago by Madara to generate chaos and that his parents sacrificed their lives to pass him the Fox's chakra.

Meanwhile, Madara reunites with the criminal Kabuto Yakushi and forms an alliance with him as Kabuto creates an army of reanimated dead bodies. Combined with Madara's army of Zetsu, these forces start clashing against the Shinobi Alliance's forces. After the first day of the war, Naruto learns of the battle going on outside the island and escapes with Killer Bee to help their allies. The two manage to defeat the Zetsus and Kages reanimated by Kabuto. With the Shinobi forces taking the upperhand, Kabuto reanimates the real Madara Uchiha, revealing the other as an impostor. The five Kages take on Madara until his departure while Naruto and Bee clash against the fake Madara who is controlling the hosts of the other Tailed Beasts. Joining forces with the Fox, Naruto takes down the hosts and forces the fake Madara to escape.

A sidestory and the DLC expand on Sasuke's appearance in the war. He meets the corpse of his older brother Itachi and both unite forces to defeat Kabuto and have him undo the summoning of all the reanimated army.

Gameplay
The game has 83 playable characters (84 playable characters in Full Burst) including several new, making it the largest cast in the Ultimate Ninja series. The fighting system has been modified, with the Awakening Mode, a state that gave each character enhanced abilities when their health was low, being possible to be used at anytime during a fight, for certain characters. As in the previous games, the player can choose two characters to assist the player character in battle. The assisting characters now can also aid the playable one through the use of thirteen different types of combos. Additionally, the assistants have health bars, losing health whenever they get hit, ultimately being unusable when their health bars deplete. Several arenas have become interactive, making the player automatically lose a fight if they leave a specific area.

The story mode is similar to that of Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm 2 rather than the previous game Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm Generations as it features boss battles that include quick time events and require the use of strategies to defeat the opponent. It also includes the "Ultimate Decision Mode" which gives the option to change the result of the battles.

Additionally, the game has mob battles in which the player controls a single character that has to battle a series of enemies.

10 Manners Filipino Kids Should Know

For distinctly Filipino situations, distinctly Filipino manners are required. Teach your children these important rules.

Culture affects children’s manners, says etiquette expert Pauli Antoine Porquez Genuino, president of image and social graces training companies Red Archon and Etiquette de Manille. It is especially important to consider the common activities typical Filipino families engage in and how these influence the behavior of children. Read on for tips on how you can raise well-mannered kids the Pinoy (Filipino) way.

When relating with other people

1. “Po,” “opo,” and “paki” Traditionally, using “po” and “opo” is a more respectful way of conversing with elders. Get your tot into the habit of responding to grown-ups using these polite Filipino words. Genuino also encourages parents to train their kids to always say “puwede po bang” or “paki” when asking for a favor.

2. “Mano po.
Marilet Delgado-Anastacio, a registered guidance counselor at Miriam College Grade School, thinks parents should encourage their kids to practicepagmamano, as it is a beautiful Filipino tradition of greeting the elderly where one gently takes the hand of the elder and kisses it or places it on one’s forehead.

3. “Tao po!”
Aside from the usual practice of knocking on closed doors and waiting for a response before entering, Filipinos usually call out “Tao po!” whenever visiting someone’s home. This is to signify one’s presence in another’s home.

4. Igalang si Yaya.
Having a yaya or a kasambahay is common in many Filipino households. Parents should be good role models when it comes to dealing with them. Remind your children to treat helpers (and everyone else they meet) with kindness and respect.

5. Paggalang sa nakatatanda.
Aside from using “po” and “opo” and practicing pagmamano, children must also remember to give way to the elderly, especially in public. The same courtesy should be extended to pregnant women and people with disabilities.

6. Ate, Kuya, Tito, at Tita
Another distinctly Filipino way of showing respect for grown-ups is to not call them by their first names. Tell your child that it would be nice to address older people as ate, kuya, manong, manang, and even lolo or lola. It is also okay to address the friends of his parents as tito and tita, even if they are not his relatives.

During mealtime

7. Kutsara at tinidor—o kamayan
Unlike in other countries where it is common to use a knife and a fork during mealtimes, Filipinos like to eat using a spoon (kutsara) and a fork (tinidor). Show your child the proper way to hold his utensils while eating. Teach him that it is improper to tap his spoon and fork together to remove bits of food from his utensils. When he is a little older (and no longer makes a mess or plays with his food), teach your child how the locals like to eat their food best:kamayan. Tell him that serving spoons are still to be used even during kamayan sessions, and that only one hand should be used when doing so. Licking both hands is a no-no (and the same goes when using utensils, too!). Table manners also include not overloading your plate with food. Remind your child to get just enough food he can finish.

8. The Pinoy hospitality
It is customary for Pinoys to invite others to join them for a meal. When your family has guests over at your home, teach your child to be a gracious host by offering the guests something to eat or drink as soon as they arrive. And if you are throwing a party at home, remind your child to let the guests (especially the grown-ups) help themselves to the food first before he partakes of the meal.

At Church and in other people’s homes

9. “Bless po, Father.”
Encourage your child to ask for blessing of the priest or pastor after mass or service. This is one way of saying thanks to him, honoring him, and recognizing authority.

10. Shoes off
Genuino encourages parents to teach their children to take off their shoes before entering someone’s house if the owner walks barefoot inside his home. When visiting a playmate, it is also important that your child respectfully greet his friend’s parents or the homeowners and properly say “good-bye” and “thank you.” Encourage your child to look people in the eye, and remind him to always be gracious and at his best behavior when in other people’s homes.

Genuino says, “One of the best things we can teach our kids is proper table etiquette. Children who learn it at a young age tend to practice good manners throughout their lives.

When children are equipped with skills, they become confident, learn how to cope, and behave well in different situations as they grow. Praise your kids, use positive motivation, and show them that you are proud of their new skill.”

Stages and ages
Follow this guide to know what to expect from your child when it comes to teaching him about manners.

1 to 2 years - Start introducing the concept to your child through modeling.

3 to 5 years - The child should be able to practice good manners with constant but gentle reminders.

6 to 7 years - The child should be able to practice good manners (but inconsistently).

8 years and older - The child should be able to practice good manners without being reminded to do so.

Searching From Within

Your identity is found in your heart. Not your job, your status, your name, what your major is, how much money you have. Your heart has been the same the entire time.

So, be who you've always been.

A lagoon in my school in college.. :) it is a haven for bookworms..
She has always been an issue, a huge conflict, sometimes with an unpleasant demeanor yet professional as she is called but not good/kind enough to become a friend/co-worker. LORD JESUS, please calm my heart, cleanse my spirit because I am bothered momentarily by her actions, thoughts. Her mind maybe is poisoned by just pure mischievous thoughts, or maybe a huge gossip and that I pray she won't make anything out of a discreet behavior. She fuses nothing but mere solemnization at times and it was very unprofessional. My actions and intentions are pure and I don't fuel them with any emotions greater than what my heart, my mind, and my being wanted to convey. Help me find peace in the midst of disturbed thoughts that she will create impish notions from my actions. It may be just fun for her but my intentions are pure with sincerity and I would like to be naturally me with the surroundings. LORD, please calm her heart, that she will finally feel at peace with just by looking at people who are simply happy and not to impure them or cause them anxiety, discouragement, uncertainty, and not to harm people with her unprofessional attitude or even worst, solemnization/indecency. Let her finally realize that her actions to undermine her colleagues are too hypocrite and immature. Make her think that not all actions have meanings similar to what her unprofessional mind paints. I am sorry for my words and that my entire being is ranting over it but I am wanting/pursuing peace in my heart against what she is doing or what she might do or say or think. I should not feel affected about it but I am consumed by sadness or better yet removed the feeling of being trapped. If she wanted to get married to a foreigner, let her be, if she wants men's attention, let her be but make her shut her mouth up about other people.. PLEASE LORD :'( Ahhhhh,, off to work..  (12June2014)

The fear of cockroach is called.. :'(

Out of the blue, I stumbled upon my old yahoo mails in my phone, I found this one that I wrote almost two years ago.. i just laugh at myself now because I do not remember why I had this and saved somewhere.. nah! just forgetting about it..

Hi! I hope all is well. Thanks for dropping by my page. Something to break the ice, starting off w/ a riddle...here goes: what gift enriches the receiver w/o diminishing the giver? what gift can be given in a flash, but can have an impact that lasts forever? what gift is of no earthly value until it is given away? what gift is such that no one is so poor that he or she cannot share it, & no one is so rich that he or she doesn't have a need for the gift?

The answer is a SMILE! :)

Born and raised in Metro Manila, Philippines, thus I don't know any dialect in my home country. I am a VERY proud first child of VERY hard-working mother. She has worked EXTREMELY hard when Jesus decided to make her a blessed widow of three. The first thing I thank God for is the wonderful family He has blessed me with. I know that I won the lottery with them in my life. I am single, never married, quite had some lapses but so grateful for having a one and only lovely daughter. A really wonderful gift from God. I am old-fashioned & am not into the bar scenes, but, I love to joke around & have a good time. I am straightforward, strong-willed, and therefore I don't smoke at all, nor drink. I believe in treating others as I like to be treated; with kindness, courtesy, consideration, honesty, respect, etc. I am also into several sports activities and can blend when taught well. Parenthood is one thing that life trained me well. It gave me the most of everything laid before my eyes. I don't believe in coincidence. I believe that everything happens for a reason. I know that anything good that happens to me is from God & my Father watching over me. I can also find the proverbial Silver Lining to any cloud. I believe the glass is always half full. whenever something that I want doesn't happen, I know it is for the best & there is something else out there better that Lord Jesus wants me to see/witness. I also look at it as a possible lesson of the day. I have a big faith in the Lord Jesus Christ and I believe that He is my Only Savior. :)

I'm fun to be with, I love to laugh and I am open to anything that is fun to do with someone special. I DON'T engage in a one-night stand because fornication is a big sin. I'm baggage-free but a little sober/drama queen. A little jealous but that's me. I love good conversations & a sense of humor. I am a good talker and listener. when the chemistry is right it is the best feeling to be part of great conversation. And now, I wrote all these with an awkward feeling because I am not really into revelations of who I am. I have a huge passion and pro-longed eagerness to learn the Korean language. I am like dying to speak it, converse fluently. Just waiting for a concerned, open-minded, and brave God-fearing human being who will care to learn with me from A-Z and beyond. Someone who would really bring me closer to Jesus and not closer to his bed. God's willing :)

"IMAGINE ME WITHOUT YOU"

Chat With The Mighty Creator

Something inspiring to ponder over.... ^^

THE LORD answer prayers when He knows you needed it so much.. And He did ;) (1) I got an early approval for my vacation leave for July 4-7, 2014 long-drive to Niagara Falls, NY with my friends/co-workers and (2) the one I am most grateful for is a "Yes" answer from someone for a huge favor I asked for my flight to FL in July! :) You-know-who-you-are,,, THANK YOU SO MUCH and GOD BLESS YOU and your family more. Be safe always.

Thank you Jesus for You never failed me. I know that Your thinking is totaly incomprehensible but You show them enough for us to understand that it is a "Yes" and not a " No" response.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
A Chat With GOD
GOD: Hello. Did you call me?
Me: Called you? No.. who is this?
GOD: This is GOD. I heard your prayers. So I thought I will chat.
Me: I do pray. Just makes me feel good. I am actually busy now. I am in the midst of something.
GOD: What are you busy at? Ants are busy too.
Me: Don't know. But I cant find free time. Life has become hectic. It's rush hour all the time.
GOD: Sure. Activity gets you busy. But productivity gets you results. Activity consumes time. Productivity frees it.
Me: I understand. But I still can't figure out. By the way, I was not expecting You to buzz me on instant messaging chat.
GOD: Well I wanted to resolve your fight for time, by giving you some clarity. In this net era, I wanted to reach you through the medium you are comfortable with.
Me: Tell me, why has life become complicated now?
GOD: Stop analyzing life. Just live it. Analysis is what makes it complicated.
Me: why are we then constantly unhappy?
GOD: Your today is the tomorrow that you worried about yesterday. You are worrying because you are analyzing. Worrying has become your habit. That's why you are not happy.
Me: But how can we not worry when there is so much uncertainty?
GOD: Uncertainty is inevitable, but worrying is optional.
Me: But then, there is so much pain due to uncertainty..
GOD: Pain is inevitable, but suffering is optional.
Me: If suffering is optional, why do good people always suffer?
GOD: Diamond cannot be polished without friction. Gold cannot be purified without fire. Good people go through trials, but don't suffer. With that experience their life become better not bitter.
Me: You mean to say such experience is useful?
GOD: Yes. In every terms, Experience is a hard teacher. She gives the test first and the lessons afterwards.
Me: But still, why should we go through such tests? Why cant we be free from problems?
GOD: Problems are Purposeful Roadblocks Offering Beneficial Lessons (to) Enhance Mental Strength. Inner strength comes from struggle and endurance, not when you are free from problems.
Me: Frankly in the midst of so many problems, we don't know where we are heading..
GOD: If you look outside you will not know where you are heading. Look inside. Looking outside, you dream. Looking inside, you awaken. Eyes provide sight. Heart provides insight.
Me: Sometimes not succeeding fast seems to hurt more than moving in the right direction. What should I do?
GOD: Success is a measure as decided by others. Satisfaction is a measure as decided by you. Knowing the road ahead is more satisfying than knowing you rode ahead. You work with the compass. Let others work with the clock.
Me: In tough times, how do you stay motivated?
GOD: Always look at how far you have come rather than how far you have to go. Always count your blessing, not what you are missing.
Me: What surprises you about people?
GOD: when they suffer they ask, "why me?" When they prosper, they never ask "Why me" Everyone wishes to have truth on their side, but few want to be on the side of the truth
Me: Sometimes I ask, who am I, why am I here. I cant get the answer.
GOD: Seek not to find who you are, but to determine who you want to be. Stop looking for a purpose as to why you are here. Create it. Life is not a process of discovery but a process of creation.
Me: How can I get the best out of life?
GOD: Face your past without regret. Handle your present with confidence. Prepare for the future without fear.
Me: One last question. Sometimes I feel my prayers are not answered.
GOD: There are no unanswered prayers. At times the answer is
NO.
Me: Thank you for this wonderful chat.
GOD: Well. Keep the faith and drop the fear. Don't believe your doubts and doubt your beliefs. Life is a mystery to solve not a problem to resolve. Trust me.
I Can't Turn Back Time - Literally! :)
Hello June 2014!
Yesterday morning, I thought that maybe it was the right time to replace my wristwatch's battery. I was not able to use my watch for months. I drove and looked around for a Jewelry shop at a mall here in Indiana. One Jewelry shop redirected me to another stall and I found one that can open my watch, replace the battery but for a little costly one. I waited and had my watch back. It has a sentimental value since I bought it in my homecountry during my three-week vacation and it is from my Resident Engineering work in Devens, Massachusetts. It was the only gift for myself for that year-2012.
I am not really an irate customer who needs to be defused rather someone who also value money. However, most of the time, I end up throwing a lot because of getting bad products/items or simply I don't want to cause more embarrassment for the shop in some cases. Most importantly is that it has a sentimental value for me.
When I got my watch, I first noticed that the numbers are misaligned. I had to give it back to be corrected. In our country, when the battery is replaced, the wristwatch shop repairman will correct the time for you before returning your watch. The really good thing about it is they will do it all while you are watching. The summary about what happened today is: (1) my watch was done on the other side of the door, which means I did not see how everything was done; (2) the time was not corrected to the current date/time, (3) my watch was returned broken, and (4) I got my watch working but the time is way too advance from the current local time. :'(
I am certain that it was perfectly fine since I was using it everyday in the office before the battery died. When I pull the time adjusting knob or normally called Stem fell off my watch. I could no longer set the correct time. I did not return it to them because I thought they might think the consultation is going to be for a "repair" charge. I tried to find a place that can really repair my wristwatch but I did not locate one. Since the Jewelry store can only replace battery, I believe that it won't make sense telling them about the broken stem. I really do not want to buy a new watch because mine is not that old and I believe that it is 100% functional. I will only need to find a good place for wristwatch repair around Evansville, IN. I can consult the friendly Google soon.
And I would like to use my wristwatch again.
Lesson learned:
Since this saddening incident happened, I think it is not an inconvenience for a Jewelry shop if I will ask them to allow me to see how my watch is dismantled and re-assembled if ever I will need a battery replacement again somewhere.
I am happy that the Filipino family I met at church will go with me to the Jewelry shop where I had my battery replaced. They know someone at the shop and we're hoping my wristwatch will get repaired. Thank you LORD JESUS for an answered prayer. You are really awesome! And GOD bless this family more.. I am so hopeful I can have my watch repaired free of charge. :)
For now, I hope I will stay here longer or I pray that another company would require my service.. for a very saddening reason. I am confused, worried, cannot focus thinking about my future situation back in the office in my country. My sister have seen my commute situation when she met a co-worker and LORD, please lead the way. I have all these worries laid upon You and forgive me for I look like I am giving up on this one. I know you taught me how to endure everything, how to feel happy about anything but for some reason, this work situation is not putting a smile in my heart. Please tell me why.. :'(
Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight. (Proverbs 3:5-6)
I decided to bring my concern to two of my USA office co-workers. They gave really kind advice to either find a watch repair shop or contact the manufacturer of this little valued possession. I drove to a watch repair shop along Lloyd Expressway at Evansville, IN. The repairmen is on leave and I was advised of two things: (1) They can ship my watch to its manufacturer which means a cost for shipping/handling and the repair charge; or (2) contact the manufacturer online and see how to get my watch repaired. It seemed that I am not not quite close to being successful in this effort maybe because I did not buy my wristwatch here in America. I will try the second option and I am optimistic they could do something about it and hope it won’t cost me that much. :(
I really like to thank B and D (they are those I usually talk to everyday at work) for being helpful in any way they can to me. Everything non-work related concern they advise, whatever they say is REALLY appreciated and I fully acknowledged it. Again, thank you LORD JESUS for You gave me another group of nice, brilliant people to give guidance to me too.
Nonreligious Arguments Why Singles Should Wait for Sex until Marriage
It is my stand which I will speak out in this article. A captured message from someone who is trying to clearly convey that GOD has created sacred things for a very special purpose and for an imposing reason.
Sunday, April 27, 2014 a church message come to me about a topic regarding "What Does GOD Think About Sex?". The church pastor has delivered the message:
Genesis 1:31 (KJV)
And God saw every thing that He had made, and, behold, it was very good. And the evening and the morning were the sixth day.
Purpose of Sex
1. To motivate people to get married.
2. To motivate people to stay married with the same person. (read the Bible story of David and Bathsheba)
GOD is letting everyone know the feeling of being forgiven and make such commitment to change. Be pure in mind and body for the unmarried people. It is not a matter of one giving oneself away for pleasure because he/she is desperate of marriage rather a commitment to GOD that our mind and body will be pure for that someone so special whom GOD has destined for us.
The article which is posted below the line is a composition of another person which conscientiously elaborates his meditation about the topic/subject. I fully understand his thinking and I really respect his opinion about this topic. The article may have different responses from readers and it may come confusing to some non-religious people, and every account in this article is based on a person's thoughts but it is fully equipped, encapsulated epistle with truths from the Bible (Word of GOD).
Christians are not exempted to this talk and they are the ones who are being called to  also contemplate that there should be no Porn Again Christians so to speak. And somehow this strong belief will keep me away from men.. :)
======================================================
Purity talk is easy to openly discuss with your Christian friends. However, as I get myself acquainted to people outside church, they start asking why it should matter to them. It sounded to them as though God is only a killjoy higher being who doesn’t want you to experience the pleasures of exploring other bodies aside from your spouse or future spouse.
I didn’t want to be defensive. I didn’t want to take it too personal (but it is personal to me, especially when they mistakenly understood God’s nature). Most specially, I didn’t want to convince them right away that God is not a killjoy God. So I kept quiet and thought about the matter for months.
I asked myself, what could be the practical reasons why God doesn’t want us to enter into sexual relationship outside marriage. I realized that many people are tired of reading or hearing religious arguments why sex should be done only inside the marriage covenant. I do not, in anyway, imply in this entry that religious arguments are wrong. This is my attempt to show practical reasons why singles, even those who don’t believe in God, should wait until marriage. Feel free to comment your thoughts afterwards.
How many times have you heard the “counsels” from Hollywood movies, that in order for you to know whether the person is for you, try his/ her sexuality first. See if your sex life has a chemistry, and then move on if you’re not compatible. What could be the problem/s with that counsel? Here are my thoughts about it:
1. Unending Audition
Love becomes conditional. You only accept the person when he/ she passes your standard or vice versa. You do your best to satisfy your partner so that you will be accepted. You feel like you have to perform well to stay accepted. Yes, accepted …conditionally.
It will feel like an unending audition towards the other person. The sad part about it, is when the other person felt that he/ she will more likely enjoy doing it with someone else, the person can leave anytime.
2. Majors become minors
Sex becomes the major decision factor for your marriage. Some people would ask, shouldn’t it be that way, since that person will be the only one you’re having sex with for the rest of your life? I don’t think it should work that way.
Why? There are twenty-four (24) hours in a day, and there are other things, major things, that will require more time than sex. I suggest you look at the person’s vision in life. The person’s purpose, direction, beliefs, and many more. These major things will be what you will most likely talk about most of the time, what you will do together, and where you will probably commit -as a family- to do in your whole lifespan.
One of the major causes of broken families is misunderstanding. Why? Don’t you think the differences about vision, purpose, beliefs, and direction in life are the major factors and reasons for the separation? Think about it.
3. Vulnerability Problems
Getting naked in front of someone is a sign of opening yourself to a person. That’s why there is shame in it. You’re allowing yourself to be physically vulnerable towards him/ her in that specific time. At that time, both of you are physically vulnerable, and you’re willing to do and accept it because there is pleasure that awaits behind vulnerability.
The problem with that is, it’s only “selective acceptance of vulnerability”. Once you start seeing the flaws, imperfections, and other weaknesses of the person, once they become open to you, you start being uncomfortable to accept his/ her other vulnerabilities.
You don’t like the fact that he/ she snores loudly when sleeping. You don’t like that he/ she is irritatingly unstable with emotions. You don’t want to accept his/ her present struggles. You don’t like the person showing his/ her weaknesses to you. In other words, you don’t like to see the whole set of his/ her vulnerabilities. You don’t like the person being wholly open to you, except when you’re in bed.
This is not love. This is selfishness, and love is never selfish.
4. Benchmark Challenge
While this point is not necessarily true to some, yet it is still true to many. When you get married and both of you know that it’s not your first time, you might struggle with these thoughts:
“Did he/ she had better experience than this?” or “I had better experience than this…”
I say
blessed are those who got married as virgins, for they have the best sex experience ever.
No kidding. They really think they have the best sex life ever, because there is no point of comparison for it. Not trying sex outside marriage, OR stopping right now would be of great help not just for you, but for your future spouse as well.
5. Physical and Emotional Health
Physical health - there is no need to explain the physical health. HIV victims are increasing so fast. All of the victims will tell you that the few-minute-pleasure is not worth the severe sickness that you might carry for the rest of your life.
Emotional health - guilt will come. Many will think this only applies to women. No, not just for women, but also for men. Yes it will, don’t wait for it. Stop now.
Conclusion
Sex is great. Sex is a gift, but not for all -only for the married couples. Who gave it then?
God did.
In fact, he wants us to enjoy it to the max. God knows the only possible way to experience the FULL extent of the pleasure of sex is the way under the covenant of marriage.
The reason why I wrote this is because I want to tell all my friends that God is not a killjoy God. In fact, he wants us to enjoy ALL his gifts to the fullest, and sex is one of them. He doesn’t want us to experience what I enumerated above.
Jesus said, “I have come that they may have life, and have it abundantly…” at the same time, before declaring that promise, he said that the enemy, Satan, came to kill, steal, and destroy (John 10:10).
All of God’s gifts are perfect. Satan tries to twist the situation, steal from you, crush you, destroy you, and makes you think that those disasters came from God.
God did not give precautions because he is killjoy. No! He loves you, and he wants you. At that same chapter of the verse I mentioned above (John 10), Jesus said that He is the door -the way to salvation. Come to Him, and experience what abundant life really mean. He loves you, indeed.
Finally, I would like to end in this note:
4 Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. 5 It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. 6 Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. 7 It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails.1 Corinthians 13:4-7
