Popular events like the football World Cup and other international sporting occasions are essential in easing international tensions and releasing patriotic emotions in a safe way.

[IELTS Writing Task 2]

Every four years, the whole world stops to watch international sporting events such as the Olympics and the Football World Cup in which athletes show their best performance to make their country proud of them. These sporting occasions have proved to be helpful in easing international tensions in difficult times when powerful leaders were trying to control the world's economy and other governments were fighting over land.

The Olympic Games are one of the best examples which prove how sporting events can bring nations together, at least temporarily. From ancient History, when Greeks and Romans would interrupt battles to participate in the games, to the more recent international disputes, when athletes from Palestine and Israel would forget their differences, compete pacifically and even embrace each other after an event. Moreover, these popular events have called the world?s attention to the terrible consequences of wars; thus some leaders have tried to accept agreements to end their dispute and live peacefully.

Similarly, international sporting events show benefits in some developing countries which live in a daily internal civil war. For example, Brazil has a high rate of unemployment, lack of education, hunger, crime, poverty and corruption which leads to an immense embarrassment of being Brazilian and a low self-esteem. However, when the Football World Cup starts, the Brazilian squad, which is considered the best team in the world, provokes an amazing feeling of pride in their country. Most people seem to forget all their problems and even the criminal activity decreases. They paint roads with the national colors, use wear the Brazilian team shirt and buy national flags. Moreover, the competition brings families and neighbors together and even rival gangs watch the games and celebrate peacefully.

In conclusion, popular sporting events play an important role in decreasing international tensions and liberating patriotic feelings as History has shown.

English As A Mother Language

Reading the article on this link has added another feeling of happiness because of our ancestors or should I say "colonizers", Filipinos had the privilege to learn English but most certainly, my love for my native tongue is there - Filipino language

Though so saddening to read this: 

"For while Filipino may be the language of identity, it is the language of the streets. It might have the capacity to be the language of learning, but it is not the language of the learned."

Maaring malaki ang nagagawa ng pagkatuto ng isang Filipino (Pinoy) ng wikang Ingles, ngunit hindi ito nangangahulugan na ang pagtingin sa sariling wika ay ganun na lamang. [We can say learning English of Filipino citizens can bring a lot to them, but this does not mean that one should ignore or treat his own language just like that.]

One Friendly Vehicle

Riding a bike is the most healthy and enjoyable diversion when you like to spend some of your free-time. She learned riding it when she was in high school but got her bike broken without a replacement, thus stopped using it for years. It is until a week ago when her sister urged her and her other sibling to purchase one since her sister is running errands in the house. She agreed because she can use that someday too. There the sibling went, bought a light blue one with a basket in front. Thought it will be a feeling like you're bicycling in one of the streets in South Korea. She learned that there is a bicycle lane in their country to avoid accidents of bicycle riders.

At first, she was awkward and quite nervous if she still know how to ride it. To alleviate the doubt, she borrowed it from her sister and gave it a smooth ride. There she knew and can surely say that once you learned using bikes, motorcycle or even driving a car, you won't ever forget that. It's a skill your body and brain automatically hoarded, so when it's time to use that, it will be just there. You’ll never know until you tried it again yourself. It has been 12 years since she took a bike ride in her hometown.


What are the advantages of riding a bike? Having a bike at home is very beneficial specially when running errands, like buying something. It's also helpful as a means of exercise if you want to go around the subdivision. One important advantage of bikes in the environment is it’s a carbon-free vehicle. It does not produce gas, which harms the air that adds to global warming. She hopes that the country will also allot bike lanes for bicycle riders like there in South Korea and other countries.

If you are hesitant about embracing cycling (biking) as a mode of transport, then the following are 10 pertinent reasons you should set your doubts aside and start riding a bicycle.

1. It is an environmentally friendly mode of transport. 
2. You save money on fuel (Gas, Petrol, Diesel or what ever you call it in your country) by riding a bicycle. 
3. A bicycle requires comparably less maintenance. 
4. Riding a bicycle is good for your health. You develop a strong heart and muscular limbs. 
5. You can weave in and out of traffic. 
6. Riding a bicycle is a quicker way of getting around the city. I have found that inside city, while driving automobiles, you can hardly go above 35 Km/hr. And many times you are forced to move at a crawl. 
7. There are no parking problems. And you do not have to pay a toll for parking in special spots. 
8. Riding a bicycle to work everyday, you do not have to set aside time for exercise as this in itself is an exercise. Thus the time saved can be used for other tasks. 
9. The slow pace of travel helps you be receptive of the sights around you, which you might in all probably have missed while riding an automobile. And finally.. 
10. At the end of the day, you feel much better – Physically and Mentally.

Among Men And Women

There's a rumor going around that says boys are stronger than girls! Oh Please! Can you carry a 7lb baby in your stomach for 9 months? Can you cook, clean and talk on the phone at the same time? Can you burn your forehead with a curling iron and not complain? Can you walk all day in 5" heels? Can you cry all night then wake up the next morning like everything is okay? Remember guys, women are only helpless until their nail polish dries :) Put this on your wall if you are PROUD of being a WOMAN! :)

This topic discussion will surely make the two sides throw each's opinion but it should not get to the point of  bringing one down with so much aggression. We can contemplate more but I guess if the discussion will end in pointless exchange of thoughts among people who depend their ideas on their personality and status in the society, nothing will be greatly achieved in that deliberations. More clearly some people express their notions from past experiences, news, internet articles, from colleagues and friends, and can be through a lot of what they observed around them.

..do not make him feel proud of doing things, which are not acceptable in God's eyes for we cannot do anything now in this sinful world who had already got swallowed by own beliefs and not of Yours, help me make people understand that His child needs to get back to You

You Will Never Be Happy..

“Try not to worry about not having anything for others; just think about your loved ones. If you worry about a lot of other people, you will never be happy. Worse, you will always feel tired and unfulfilled. Instead be thankful for the blessings we have. God bless.” 

This is one of those SMS exchanges with one of the co-senior engineers in my office, which hit me so hard. I gave this so much thought that it could be true. Sometimes, or a lot of times we tend to focus on others. We always try to please people, to the extent of sacrificing time for our own family. It is also we sacrificed our own happiness. We are bound to a trap of pulling a rope to play tug-of-war with the reality; that we need to survive so work hard. 

On the other hand, I personally testify it’s a great fulfillment making someone happy. But the sad part of it is I sometimes forget my own happiness. I am so blinded by such eagerness of completing others, entrapped with that uncertainty whether I will be appreciated or not and much I am insensible of the fact that these people might bring me down.

She is one of my mentors, a friend, a Spanish-class classmate, and she’s been helping me a lot in the office from work-related concerns to personal decision-makings. She gives advice that I know I’ll use someday, which whatever happens could be an armor against life’s battle. I am learning a lot from her and maybe because we’re of the same position in the family. Anything available are feasible and it will only depend on how you will wisely make the most of everything. Satisfaction should not be chased for this won’t get fulfilled unless you put a limit, which we call “contentment”.
